Competitors

Below are boys clothing and prices from 3 major department stores: Target, Myer and David Jones. As you can see the prices vary with Target being the cheapest and David Jones being more expensive. The quality of the clothing is not so great on the cheaper items. It is great research as you see the quality and the styles that parents are buying today. Although the prices are cheaper the quality is not that great that why Perpetually Fives product, quality and price will do well in the market.

Agi & Sam

Agi and Sam began the brand with the fundamental thought of designing for men. After years of countless menswear collections displaying either a fear to create something different or collections which push too far and never seeing the light of day they aim to sit firmly in the middle.

With a strong emphasis on entirely bespoke print and humor they believe that fashion should never be taken too seriously.

This fashion label is quite similar to Perpetually Five. They have a lot of colour and tailoring and do not stick to the norms of men's fashion. Their collections are fun and unique which is what Perpetually Five is all about.

3D puzzle for swing tags

Perpetually Five is all about being fun so why not make everything about the collection fun. Swing tags are important when selling your product. They have important information such as price and size. I have thought of a way where both children and adults can interact with their swing tags once purchased. The idea is to have the swing tags as a 3D puzzle which they can make up and keep. Simple 3D puzzles can be fun and practical bringing something new to the average swing tag.

Plastic Buttons

Plasticmake is an Australian company that makes plastic easy for regular people to work with without using special tools, safety equipment and high temperatures.

Plastimake is a special type of non-toxic plastic polymer with some very exciting properties. It is a thermoplastic, which means that when it is heated it becomes soft and pliable, but at room temperature it is extremely strong. It can be heated and cooled as many times as you like.

Plastimake is special because it will soften at the relatively low temperature of 60°C. Because it is non-toxic you can shape warm Plastimake directly with your hands or other simple tools you may have around the house.
Plastimake comes ready to use in white pellet form. The only thing you'll need to get started with your jar of Plastimake is a kettle!

Visit to Campbell Primary

On Tuesday the 3rd of April I went to Campbell Primary to meet with two classes to help with my inspiration. The classes were made up of year one and twos both boys and girls. I came prepared with activities such as: Mr Squiggle drawing activity. Draw their favorite place, animal, clothing, costume, person and character. Plus another final drawing activity where they were asked to draw and tell a story.
Whilst they were doing this I was going around asking the children what they were drawing and why. I found the experience very valuable for my concept as I was able to observe the children using their imagination to draw what ever came to mind. What I got out from this experience was the shapes, colour and the use of space when they draw. From here I want to use their use of elements and principles and attributes to create my fashion designs. Picasso's technique can also be included in these steps.

Like father like son

These images are of my consumer (young children and young males). The idea is to some how have a connection with the children and their elders. As children look up to their elders and adults admire the freedom and imagination of a child.

Imagination

This image is one I have made to create a mood of what children see when they draw an image.

Mood - Childrens Imagination

This image is if the childrens imagination is exploading out of their heads it all different colours, texture and shapes.

Cotton On Kids

Cotton On Kids is Australia's leading Childrens' wear label. They would be my main competitors in my childrens' wear proposal. Their clothing is highly trend based and affordable. Their clothing is not that individual.

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso has become my main source of inspiration for my design process. Picasso could make a would out of nothing. His creative process has non-monotonic variations - For example: Picasso takes ten sketches to achieve his desired outcome of a figure of a bull. However, he reveals no relation between each bull drawing and instead varies significantly creating what seems to be new sketches. This is a messy, inefficient even chaotic manner of constructing a creative product. Picasso did both naturalist representations and abstract, schematic, anti-figural renderings of the real image.

Extinct Animals

My original idea was to create clothing which was educational. Using extinct animals as inspiration I would create clothing which on the inside would give both the viewer and wearer information on the animal that their clothing is inspired by.

Childrens Imagination & Artist interpretation

The Monster Engine Project by Dave DeVries

This project is based on the idea of creating realistic paintings from children's drawings - sometimes artist just happen to get to one point where their imagination stops, but not children. All drawings are from children around 6 years old)
